Helensburgh Puzzle Trail

The Helensburgh Puzzle trail is a series of 36 caches found just off the road around Helensburgh, Stanwell Tops and Otford. It is roughly a 10 kilometre trip which makes for a nice cycling or walking trip.

All containers are placed at T2 or below. All containers are bison tubes, pill bottles, small containers and large containers.

• Please do the trail counter clockwise as the containers will all be on your left hand side and you won’t have to cross the road.
• Park your bike in a safe place. It’s better to walk 20 meters back than to lose your bike.

• Please do the trail clockwise so you can see the oncoming traffic. The containers will all be on your right hand side.

• Do not park your vehicle in unsafe places! From Stanwell Tops to Bald Hill there are limited parking opportunities at the entrances to the forest. From Bald Hill to Otford there are no parking spaces on the road. It’s recommend that you park the car at Bald Hill or Otford and walk the other way.

• There limited or no phone reception at the bottom of Otford. Make sure your geocaching app works without reception.
• The trail takes you over a normal asphalted road which travels through forested areas. You might see kangaroos - they will most likely run away from you; or snakes - they will most likely slither away; or spiders - whose web you most likely just ran into. If you need medical attention because of a bite, call 000.
• Helensburgh has a full set of shops and cafes.
• Bald Hill has a cafe, water taps and toilets.

If you start at Helensburgh Cemetery and go counter clockwise, it will look like this:

The dip at 7.5 km is Otford. The dip at 5.5 km is Bald Hill. I couldn’t cycle up from Otford, so I walked. I don’t expect anybody to cycle that part.
