What are the options at the Settings page?

Distances

  • Use metric units (default value: YES)
    This option defines if the distances need to be displayed in meters and kilometers or that they need to be displayed in feet and miles.

External apps

  • External Maps (default value: Apple Maps)
    This option defines the map application to open when you select the Directions option in a map view. It will provide the coordinates to the map application so you can get directions.
  • Offer to send Tweets (default value: On)
    This will offer to send a Tweet when a cache has been logged as found. It will use the default iOS Tweet app and offer a canned Tweet. You still need to press the Send Tweet button!

Import options

  • Timeout for simple HTTP requests (default value: 120 seconds)
    This option defines the maximum duration for a simple API request to an external website. Increase this if you receive timeouts on these requests.
  • Timeout for big HTTP requests (default value: 600 second)
    This option defines the maximum duration for a large API request to an external website. This includes the download of queries and the "Load Waypoints" option in the map view.
  • Download waypoint images (default value: yes)
    When parsing GPX files or importing queries, the waypoint long and short decription is parsed for IMG tags. When such a tag is found, this option defines whether or not the image should be downloaded.
  • Download log images (default value: no)
    When parsing GPX files or importing queries, the waypoint log text is parsed for IMG tags. When such a tag is found, this option defines whether or not the image should be downloaded.
  • Download logged images over mobile data (default value: no)
    Whether or not download images found in log texts should be downloaded over mobile (3G, 4G etc) data. Waypoint images are still downloaded over mobile data.
  • Download queries over mobile data (default value: no)
    Whether or not API queries should be downloaded over mobile (3G, 4G etc) data.

Themes

  • Theme (default value: Default day theme)
    With this option you can decide to show the various screens in the normal IOS colour scheme or that you want a low brightness night colour scheme.
  • Compass type (default value: Red arrow on blue disk)
    With this option you can chose the different compass types displayed in the Navigate section.
  • Orientations allowed (default value: all orientations)
    With this option you can chose which orientations are allowed to be rotated to.

Sounds

  • Enable sounds for direction (default value: No)
    With this option you get audio feedback if the iPhone is pointing in the direction of the target.
  • Enable sounds for distance (default value: No)
    With this option you get audio feedback if the iPhone gets closer to the target.

Compass

  • Compass View always in portrait mode (default value: Yes)
    Disable the rotation of the view when the Compass View gets shown.

Map colours

  • Track line (default value: Cyan)
    This is the colour used in the maps to show where you have been.
  • Destination line (default value: Red)
    This is the colour used in the maps to show where the target it.

Map search maximums

  • Distance in Groundspeak geocaching.com search radius (default value: 5000 meters)
    In the Load Waypoints option in the map view, this will define the radius of the circle from the center of the map to load the waypoints in.
  • Number of waypoints in Geocaching Australia search (default value: 50)
    In the Load Waypoints option in the map view, this will define the maximum number of objects to load around the center of the map.
  • Distance in OKAPI search radius (default value: 5000 meters)
    In the Load Waypoints option in the map view, this will define the radius of the circle from the center of the map to load the waypoints in.
  • Distance in Geocaching Australia search radius (default value: 5000 meters)
    In the Load Waypoints option in the map view, this will define the radius of the circle from the center of the map to load the waypoints in.

Maps

  • Default map (default value: Apple Maps)
    In which map brand a new map should show up.

Accuracy

  • Enable dynamic accuracy (default value: Yes)
    This option defines whether or not dynamic accuracy is enabled.
  • Accuracy for 'near' accuracy (default value: Highest possible accuracy)
    Which accuracy to be used for 'near' distances.
  • Accuracy for 'midrange' accuracy (default value: Accurate to ten meters)
    Which accuracy to be used for 'midrange' distances.
  • Accuracy for 'far' accuracy (default value: Accurate to hundred meters)
    Which accuracy to be used for 'far' distances.
  • Update distance for 'near' accuracy (default value: 0 meters)
    Define the distance reporting value for the 'near' accuracy.
  • Update distance for 'midrange' accuracy (default value: 5 meters)
    Define the distance reporting value for the 'midrange' accuracy.
  • Update distance for 'far' accuracy (default value: Accurate to 10 meters)
    Define the distance reporting value for the 'far' accuracy.
  • Distance for 'near' accuracy (default value: Up to 50 meters)
    Define the distance for the 'near' accuracy.
  • Distance for 'midrange' accuracy (default value: Up to 250 meters)
    Define the distance for the 'midrange' accuracy.
  • Accuracy for static 'navigating' accuracy (default value: Highest possible accuracy)
    Which accuracy to be used for Compass and Maps when Dynamic Accuracy is disabled.
  • Accuracy for static 'non-navigating' accuracy (default value: Accurate to 100 meters)
    Which accuracy to be used for the other pages when Dynamic Accuracy is disabled.
  • Update distance for static 'navigating' pages (default value: 0 meters)
    Which update distance to be used for Compass and Maps when Dynamic Accuracy is disabled.
  • Update distance for static 'non-navigating' pages (default value: 10 meters)
    Which update distance to be used for the other pages when Dynamic Accuracy is disabled.

Map cache

  • Enable map cache (default value: Yes)
    This option defines whether or not the map tile cache will be used.
  • Maximum age for objects in cache (default value: 30 days)
    This options defines the maximum age of a map tile if it didn't get used.
  • Maximum size for the cache (default value: 250 Mb)
    This options defines the maximum size of the map tile cache. The least used map tiles get removed first.

Dynamic maps

  • Enable dynamic maps (default value: Yes)
    This option defines if the map view will increase and decrease the zoom level based on the speed travelled.
  • Maximum walking speed (default value: 7 km/h)
    This option defines when the dynamic maps is in the walking speed range.
  • Maximum cycling speed (default value: 40 km/h)
    This option defines when the dynamic maps is in the cycling speed range.
  • Maximum driving speed (default value: 120 km/h)
    This option defines when the dynamic maps is in the driving speed range.
  • Walking zoom-out distance (default value: 100 meters)
    This option defines what the map view size is for the walking speed range.
  • Cycling zoom-out distance (default value: 1000 meters)
    This option defines what the map view size is for the cycling speed range.
  • Driving zoom-out distance (default value: 5000 meters)
    This option defines what the map view size is for the driving speed range.

Keep track

  • Enable keeping track (default value: Yes)
    This option defines if the historic tracks are being recorded.
  • Keep tracks in memory only (default value: No)
    This option defines if the historic tracks should not be written to disk.
  • Autorotate every day (default value: Yes)
    This option defines if the data file for the Keep Track feature gets restarted every day.
  • Time difference for new track point (default value: 5.0 seconds)
    Defines the maximum time interval for a new track point to be placed.
  • Time difference for a new track (default value: 10 seconds)
    If the previous track point was collected more than this value seconds ago, a new track will be created.
  • Distance difference for a new track point (default value: 100 meters)
    Defines to the maximum distance for a new track point to be placed.
  • Distance difference for a new track (default value: 200 meters)
    If the previous track point was more than this value meters away, a new track will be created.
  • Autopurge age for old tracks (default: 30 days)
    After what time old tracks are being rotated out.
  • Sync track data (default: 120 seconds)
    Sync the track data to disk every this value seconds.

Mark as...

  • Remove target when marking as found/DNF (default value: Yes)
    When a target waypoint gets marked as found or as DNF, remove it as a target.
  • Mark all related waypoints when marked as found (default value: Yes)
    When a waypoint gets marked as found, mark all related waypoints as found.
  • Remove Marked as Found/DNF when logging (default value: Yes)
    When logging a waypoint, remove the Marked as Found or as DNF at the same time.

Waypoints

  • Sort waypoints default by ...(default value: Distance (ascending))
    Set the default sort order for the Waypoints List.
  • Show country as abbreviation (default value: Yes):
    When enabled, use the two letter country abbreviation when showing the country.
  • Show state as abbreviation (default value: No):
    When enabled, use the state abbreviation when showing the state.
  • Show state as abbreviation if locality exists (default value: Yes):
    When enabled, show the state abbreviated when the locality exists.
  • Refresh after log (default value: Yes)
    The option to refresh the waypoint from the listing service after it has been logged.

Lists

  • Sort lists default by ...(default value: Time added (ascending))
    Set the default sort order for the Lists.

Accounts

  • Save authentication username (default value: Yes)
    For accounts on listing services which require the authentication name to be supplied to Geocube instead of via an OAuth mechanism, save the authentication name.
  • Save authentication password (default value: Yes)
    For accounts on listing services which require the authentication password to be supplied to Geocube instead of via an OAuth mechanism, save the authentication password.

Locationless

  • Sort by (default value: Name (ascending))
    Set the default sort order for the locationless waypoints.
  • Show found in list (default value: No)
    Show found locationless waypoints in the list.

Speed

  • Enable speed calculation (default value: Yes)
    Calculate the speed the iPhone is travelling at.
  • Speed sample time (default value: 10 seconds)
    Duration of the sample time for the speed to be calculate over.
  • Minimum speed to show (default value: 3 km/h)
    Minimum speed calculated before it gets displayed in the Compass view.

Backups

  • Enable backups (default value: No)
    Enable automatic backups of the Geocube database.
  • Make a new backup every (default value: 7 days)
    How often to make an automatic backup.
  • Number of backups to be kept (default value: 5 backups)
    How many backups should be saved at maximum.
